Stakeholder Workshop on Conflict and Cooperation over REDD+ in Nepal, Vietnam and Mexico

Stakeholder Workshop on Conflict and cooperation over REDD+ in Nepal, Vietnam and Mexico was held in Dhulikhel during 25-26 February 2013.This workshop was jointly organized by Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS) and RECOFTC-The centre for People and Forests in collaboration with University of East Anglia (UK), Institute of Cultural Studies (Vietnam), Winrock international (US), and Instituo Nacional de Anthropologia e Historia (Mexico).

The workshop’s aims include:

  1. Sharing of the initiatives and lessons learned regarding the development and implementation of REDD+ on international, national and local levels. The emphasis of the workshop will be on learning together, maximising its participatory component to share lessons and understanding of the challenges and opportunities that REDD+ presents.
  2. Examination of the ingredients for conflict and / or cooperation on these levels.
  3. Identification of needs for applied research on cooperation and conflicts over REDD+ at local and national levels and suitable interventions which transform conflict and promote cooperation.
