Suchita Shrestha, Research Fellow 

Suchita Shrestha holds Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Tribhuwan University. Her Masters research was focused on the utilization of buffer zone community forest resources and conservation practices. She is also a recipient of a grant award from the Ministry of Environment for the National Adaptation Plan of Action (NAPA) where she studied the impact of climate change on the indigenous community “Chepang” in Chitwan. Her broader research interest lies on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation capacity of community, ecosystem services and human dimension of natural resources management. She has also a keen interest on the knowledge-action-policy interface. She has almost a decade of experience in result based project management primarily focused on natural resources management and livelihood.

She joined SIAS in 2016 and worked as a research team member in the action research project “Climate Adaptive and Equitable Water Management Practices and Strategies in cities in South Asia (CAMPS)” funded by IDRC Canada. She was particularly responsible on how to involve private sector in the issues of water management at urban settings. Currently, she has been involved as the Researcher in the research project entitled “Institutional networks and self-organized adaptation: Tracing the democratic architectures of climate response.” She is responsible for coordinating the quantitative survey team and also contributes in the qualitative research. Besides, she also worked as a Managing Editor of the New Angle: Nepal Journal of Social Science and Public Policy is an internationally peer-reviewed journal published by Nepal Policy Research Network. Before joining SIAS, she worked in the development sector primarily on the thematic areas of climate change adaptation, rural livelihoods and forest based enterprise.
