Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS), a Kathmandu based research institute is looking for a highly motivated Researcher to join a vibrant and interdisciplinary team of researchers with national and international repute.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Execute women’s economic empowerment related participatory action research
  • Undertake fieldwork and liaise with relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations and community-level actors
  • Take lead role in analyzing data and writing scientific and policy relevant papers (to be published in national and international journals)
  • Coordinate with research partners and other stakeholders at national, provincial and local level
  • Coordinate policy and stakeholder engagement programs at national and sub-national levels
  • Take lead role in administering qualitative data analysis tools and data management system
  • Produce high quality analytical reports, project related outputs and dissemination materials
  • Substantially contribute to the conceptual domain of the project
  • Take lead on developing detail implementation plan of the action research project including research protocols
  • Contribute to strengthen research and policy engagement profile of the organization
  • Contribute to preparing contents for website, social media and other outreach platforms

Duration and Duty Station:

It is a Kathmandu-based position with regular field visits to districts in Bagmati and Lumbini provinces. This position is initially for 26 months with possibility of extension. The probation period will of three months.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Masters (preferably Ph.D.) degree in social and applied science-related disciplines (Gender Studies, Development Studies, Agriculture Economics, Sociology, Natural Resource Management and equivalent) with at least 5 years of experience in research with proven skills of conducting women’s economic empowerment related studies, analysis and publication track records.
  • Proven experiences of working on the issues of women empowerment, gender and intersectionality and enterprise development sector
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good command in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • High level of motivation and commitment to high-quality research
  • Ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision, including strong time management skills

Salary will be commensurate with experience and proven track records
