Kanchan Kattel has completed MSc. in Environmental Science from Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University and BSc. in Sustainable Development from College of Natural Resources, Royal University of Bhutan. She was a scholar of SAF- UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Scholarship during her undergraduate studies. She has also completed a Bhutan based field study program on “Himalayan Environment and Society in Transition” under The School of Field Studies, USA. She is a sustainability enthusiast and an early career researcher who seeks to contribute to building sustainable and equitable societies through involvement in academia. Her research interests mainly focus on natural resource management, conservation, agri-forest based livelihood and gender. Her research involvements so far are related to agricultural biodiversity, dietary diversity, gender in agriculture-food security, and alternative energy sources in the Nepal Himalaya. She is currently involved in SIAS as a Research Officer for IDRC funded project “Co-producing a shock-resilient business ecosystem for women-led enterprises in Nepal”.
