Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS) supported by Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS), The Small Earth Nepal (SEN) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF) organized ‘River Basin Research Sharing Colloquium’ as part of Nepal National Water and Weather Week 2017on 21st March 2017 at Hotel Himalaya, Lalitpur.
The program consisted of two technical sessions – the first technical session on Water Resources Management Approaches was chaired by Mr. Keshab Dhoj Adhikari, Joint Secretary of WECS. Keynote speech on ‘Integrated Water Resource Management in the context of Nepal’ was delivered by Prof. Narendra Man Shakya, IOE, TU and was followed by three presentations from WWF Nepal, ICIMOD and IWMI. Technical session II focused on five presentations on recent research in water sector (presentations from SEN, WWF Nepal, GCISC, Pakistan and SIAS) and the session was chaired by Dr. Madan Lal Shrestha, Academician, NAST. In the technical session II, Senior Researcher from SIAS, Kamal Devkota presented on ‘Water security in rapidly urbanizing mid hill towns in Koshi and Gandaki Basins: Cases from Dhulikhel and Bidur’.
