The initiative is the part of CAFiN project (Climate Action Financing through Women and Social Enterprises).

The training brought together 21 participants, including 15 female and 6 male participants. The program was conducted with the involvement of local Partner, District FECOFUN, Dolakha. The training sessions were facilitated by experienced trainers Mochan Bhattarai and Bishnu Joshi, who bring over a decade of experience in entrepreneurship development in Nepal. The overall objective of the training was to address key knowledge gaps in business planning (including production, management and marketing), branding, and financial management; and to identify few promising enterprises for further support in preparing application for Project Preparation Facility.

The first day of the training focused on building a basic understanding of enterprises and entrepreneurship. Participants were introduced to key concepts such as livelihood, income generation, self-employment, and different types of enterprises in Nepal, including how to formalize them through register process. Through interactive activities and gamification, they explored their own business stage and learned about the qualities of successful entrepreneurs. The day also included exercises to assess personal entrepreneurial characteristics and helped participants identify and prioritize suitable business ideas using Ring Toss Game.

The second day focused on understanding the market and developing core business planning skills. Participants learned how to analyze their business using tools like SWOT and the Business Model Canvas, which helped them identify customers, value propositions, and key business activities. They also explored marketing basics such as product, price, promotion, and place. Practical group exercises were conducted to prepare production and marketing plans, along with a simulation game on demand-supply to understand the market concepts in a simple and engaging way.

The final day concentrated on completing the marketing, production and financial components of the business plan to strengthen their business management. Participants learned the essential financial concepts like profit and loss, return on investment, and break-even point. The entrepreneurs prepared their individual workplan noting the challenges and remedial actions pertaining to their own businesses. The day ended with a review of key learnings, a post-test to assess progress, and a final wrap-up to close the training.
