Policy Seminars

Policy Discussion Series –XVI was organized on Dec 29, 2013 at Martin Chautari, Thapathali. Geja Sharma Wagle from Nepal Institute for Policy Studies (NIPS) Nepal delivered the seminar on “Messages of Peace Process in Nepal”.

Abstract: Integration and reintegration of rebel army and management of their arms become frequently contentious during the peace process in insurgency-ridden countries. Indeed, such process runs high risks of failure across the contemporary world. But Nepal recently set some unique positive precedence and principles on integration and reintegration as well as the management of arms. In fact, Nepal concluded this process successfully and established a unique Nepali model. While every conflict and peace process is unique, Nepal’s indigenous and unique integration and reintegration process has set some unique precedence for integration and reintegration and conveyed some positive messages for peaceful resolution of violent conflicts.
