With an objective of documenting the concerns of the major stakeholders, Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies organized a policy dialogue titled ‘Revisiting Environment Protection Bill for Sustainable Development’ on 12th July, 2019. The gathering saw an overwhelming participation of environmental lawyers, former bureaucrats, environment right activists, researcher and professor among others. While the process of the drafting bill has been non-transparent and exclusionary, the overall content is theoretically confusing with plenty of contradictions and inconsistencies. Participants unanimously agreed to draw the attention of the policymakers including the parliament towards revisiting both the process and content of the bill.
