SIAS invites application from qualified candidates who are highly motivated, pro-active, committed and result-oriented for the position of Research Officer for project district Arghakhanchi.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide institutional and technical support to local partner cooperatives/group in planning and institutional development to increase vegetables production, value addition and marketing.
- Strengthen local market mechanisms- operationalize cold storages and haat bazar for the marketing of vegetables.
- Contribute to identify and remove gender-based constraints to women’s economic empowerment through awareness, capacity growth and exposure.
- Enhance technical skills of farmers in vegetables production, and value addition through establishment of product-based action-research plots.
- Facilitate women farmers/entrepreneurs to use digital technology for access to information and services.
- Facilitate women farmers/entrepreneurs to increase access to finance.
- Maintain good working relationship with women entrepreneurs, cooperatives, government line agencies, financial institutions and market players.
- Document case studies, photo stories and other research initiatives ongoing in the project sites.
- Support CREW research team in data collection, organizing local level events like deliberative forums, trainings and others.
- Coordinate capacity development initiatives for local women-led cooperatives and women entrepreneurs.
- Coordinate with relevant line agencies, extension service providers, local government units, non-government organizations and private sector actors to access various technical, financial and material services.
- Capacitate women champions in the project sites and mobilize them for the collective benefit of women farmers.
Duration and duty station: This is a field-based position initially for one year with the possibility of an extension.
Qualifications and skills:
- At least Bachelors in Agriculture (agronomy), Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, and Sociology with at least 3 years of professional experience in agriculture value chains, agri-business management, and women empowerment.
- Ability to deliver assigned tasks with minimal supervision, including strong time management, computer and communication skills.
Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience and proven track records.
