Project Officer
Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS) is a Kathmandu based research institute. SIAS invites application from qualified candidates who are highly motivated, pro-active, committed and result-oriented for the position of Project Officer, one each for the offices based in the project districts of Arghakhanchi and Ramechhap.
Duration: The position is initially for 1 year with a probation period of three months and will be continued based on the performance.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Identify potential agricultural cooperatives and farmers groups in the project districts and provide them institutional and technical support in their planning, institutional development and plan implementation to increase agricultural production, value addition and marketing.
- Maintain good working relationship with women entrepreneurs, cooperatives, government line agencies, financial institutions and market players.
- Facilitate action research initiatives in the project sites, and support data collection and dissemination activities.
- Provide support to the project beneficiaries in the project districts to improve production/ productivity of agricultural products (legumes in Ramechhap and fresh vegetables in Arghakhanchi) and meet quality standards.
- Provide support to develop and implement branding and marketing plan to increase the sales of cooperatives’ products.
- Coordinate capacity development initiatives for local women-led cooperatives and women entrepreneurs.
- Coordinate with relevant line agencies, extension service providers, local government units, non-government organizations and private sector actors to access various technical, financial and material services.
- Identify and capacitate women champions in the project sites and mobilize them for the collective benefit of women farmers.
- Provide necessary data and information to the thematic leaders and SIAS as and when required including preparation of case study reports.
Required qualification:
- At least Bachelors in Agriculture (agronomy), Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Business Management or Sociology with at least 3 years of professional experience in agroforestry systems, agriculture value chains, agri-business, and women empowerment.
- Ability to deliver assigned tasks with minimal supervision, including strong time management, computer and communication skills.
