Researcher
Southasia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS), a Kathmandu-based research institute is looking for a highly motivated full-time Researcher with the following key job responsibilities.
Duration and duty station:
It is a Kathmandu-based position with frequent field visits in Kathmandu and Dhulikhel. The position is initially until May 2023 with a probation period of three months and will be continued based on the performance and project extension.
Major Responsibilities:
- Undertake qualitative fieldwork and prepare field notes, transcribe interviews and systematically analyze and archive project-related information.
- Liaise with the research team and relevant actors and organize the action research initiatives and document the process.
- Review project-relevant literature, policy documents, and archive for research purposes.
- Produce and contribute to project reports, academic publications, media materials, policy briefs, and alike.
- Contribute to strengthening the research and policy engagement profile of the organization.
Qualifications and skills:
- Masters (preferably Ph.D.) degree in social science-related disciplines (human geography, sociology, development studies, anthropology, rural development, and equivalent)
- Proven research and writing skills (qualitative fieldwork, organization and analysis of stakeholder dialogues). Publications in national and international journals are encouraged.
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good command in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- High level of motivation and commitment to high-quality research
